Barney :URGENT - Experienced foster (with a view to adopt)

URGENT EXPERIENCED FOSTER REQUIRED ,WITH A VIEW TO ADOPT

Location Norfolk Post Code Area ,you must be willing to travel, to attend as many meet and greets as required

Bouncy beautiful Barney is looking for a foster home ,with a view to adopt in the future

Owners have a change in employment circumstances in the near future,along with not managing a young boisterous young puppy

Barney is your typical goofy ,fun loving,slightly bonkers doodle puppy.

His owners are first time dog owners,and are finding it difficult to navigate such a full on attention seeking fur ball

Barney does need some training,he is still exploring everything,and sometimes gets very over excited and mouths.

If he wants your full attention to play he gets quite aggravated if you call time on playtime.

He is a real rough and tumble puppy ,who just needs guidance ,patience ,time to know the kind boundaries set in place in his foster home

Barney does not like to be restraint ,do not hold him by his collar ,it’s like pulling us by a necklace we would also react

His Female owner has stated he has a lovely hate relationship with the male (Husband) owner in the household in the evenings.This has resulted in more rough play than usual,as stated more so when over stimulated.

Barney used to be good out on his lead,but had an experience that has set him backwards

His owners were walking him on a single track lane ,a large delivery van came into too close proximity and Barney got spooked

Now Barney has become reactive to traffic ,and can be nervous and cautious around other dogs ,as he is not given a huge opportunity to be around both.

Dogs he knows local to him he is much better with ,but high number of dogs makes him uncomfortable

We will need to help him through this phase going forward,and will be happy to pay and supply an experienced Dog Trainer /Behaviourist to help with this going forward.(Fosters will need to be happy to support this too)

Barney needs more time to be guided through socialisation,and put some skills into place for him going forward (not too much at once)

Barney is not really a barker,but will show his voice when he wants attention

Barney has only been the only dog in his home,he has had a visiting dog from time to time.

If we were to rehome him with another dog ,introductions need to be on neutral ground and for as many meet and greets both dogs are comfortable with

DOODLE AIDS REQUIREMENTS

NO FULL TIME WORKERS (would suit persons at home with some free time,to guide this puppy)

HE NEEDS A CALM AND QUIET ENVIRONMENT (he needs time to learn to chill and settle)

EXPERIENCED DOG OWNERS ONLY NEED TO APPLY (whom are willing to work along side us ,any any trainers that Barney may need in coming weeks)

WILL CONSIDER BARNEY BEING FOSTERED ,WITH A CALM OLDER ,NEUTERED OR SPAYED DOG (with no behaviour issues)

CHILDREN WE ONLY REHOME WITH DOG SAVVY CHILDREN ,WHO ARE 13 AND OVER (Barney gets very rough and tumble ,still mouths,and we do not want him getting too over stimulated)

NO VISITING BABIES OR YOUNG CHILDREN

IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO ADOPT HIM,AND THINKING OF HAVING CHILDREN IN THE FUTURE ,BARNEY WOULD NOT COPE WELL

NO CATS HE IS NOT CAT TESTED (he probably would chase)

GARDEN NEEDS TO BE SAFE AND SECURE,GSTES MUST HAVE LOCKS

NO TOXIC PLANTS

IF YOU HAVE A DEEP POND IT MUST BE COVERED

NO SHOWBOATING BARNEY FOR AT LEAST A GOOD WEEK

( this means only allow him to be with your people that live in your home,allow him to get used to you and his new environment first)

Meet Barney

Type Miniature Goldendoodle

DOB December 2024

Not neutered far too young,will be under contact with our guidelines

Height 19 inches

Weight 18.5 Kgs

Microchipped which has been checked

Booster vaccine due April 2026

Wormer administered July 2025

Flea/tick treatment administered July 2025

No known allergies

Health :- Barney had a reaction to either a nettle sting or a graze from grooming,the vets prescribed cream and a 48 hour injection

Grooming

Barney has a soft curly wavy type of coat,only sheds minimally as all dogs shed some amount

He does not mind being groomed at home ,as his owner attends to all his grooming needs at home

Barney will need a Professional Groom at least every 6 to 8 weeks to keep his coat in tip top condition

Exercise

Barney has two walks per day ,plus exercise in his owners garden

He does go off lead only away from,other distractions in a safe area

We do not allow our foster dogs off lead,unless a pre paid paddock is hired

Doodle Aid recommends using a training lead if in a vast space ,and a shorter lead whilst in public and busy places

Barney will need some training with his recall,and loose lead training going forward

Barney did attend basic puppy training classes for six weeks ,but has not continued with this,would be a great bonding experience in the future for him and his new owners

Further Information

Temperament :- Very calm and subdued in the mornings and afternoons, tends to be more lively and energetic in the afternoon and evenings with regular "zoomies" and requires constant attention before he then crashes when he will become loving and cuddly

Barney gets very very excited when meeting and greeting people and children,he will calm down eventually ,but remember he still is only a puppy

Barney is toilet trained ,we do state any dog may have an accident whilst settling into a new environment

He is crated trained,sleeps in his crate at night :- this is mainly to provide a safe and cosy place for him to chill and relax

Please do not put his crate in a busy walk way

He has never been destructive in his home

Barney can be left for a few hours ,but he does crave attention ,so build this up slowly leaving him for any longer time

He travels ok in the car in his crate

Dislikes -: vans and large moving vehicles

Likes-: Fetch with balls and other toys; hide and seek with treats; recall training, several soft toys used at play and rest

Barney has paddled in water no deeper than 10cm and enjoyed this experience

Barney is a lovable loyal doodle that loves oodles of company, this has been such a difficult decision but changes within his family circumstances ,have made them feel that they are not doing right by Barney ,and giving him all that he deserves. They honestly feel that all of Barneys anxieties and reactivities can be dealt with once settled into the right environment ,with an experienced dog owner with the correct training and time.

Doodle Aid will supply support to the foster,and Barney as this is most important aspect.
