VERY URGENT FOSTER NEEDED : Kevin

URGENT URGENT EXPERIENCED FOSTER REQUIRED

Young Cockerpoo 10 months old, anxious, with some behavioural history

Please can anyone help still with his owners and we do not want to see such a young dog PTS ,if we can help

Please do read every detail provided before submitting an application to foster

Location Cheshire Post Code CW10 will need to travel for meet and greets please

We are looking for an experienced foster person or persons ,whom are willing to give their experience ,time and love to a very mixed up 10 month old Cockapoo.

Doodle Aid will provide support when need for the fosters, with a full health check by a vet,a qualified behaviourist assistance,a groomer when required .

The fosters will need to be prepared to travel to these appointments when necessary please.

Kevin is a 10 month old Cockapoo ,whom has been showing behavioural issues since he was around 16 weeks old

He finds it very hard to settle down,he is always on the go and alert in his environment

The home he lives in is a busy household, with two working parents, one of which works at home ,and two older boys whom can be loud at times, boys will be boys and children have to play,we understand this but Kevin finds it all too much

Kevin has picked his special person in his home ,whom is the lady of the household, whom does go out to work during the day

When she comes home from work Kevin goes a bit bonkers as he loves her so much, getting very excited and giddy

He will resource guard the lady of the household ,and with people he doesn’t know entering the home ,possibly trying to protect the lady he loves too much

Kevin does not have a strong bond with his human Daddy ,and recently has gone to nip him,he now feels this might start to escalate the children in the future

Kevin likes to steal treasured items,he has taken the remote control and to give it back he likes you to chase him

It’s all attention seeking ,and to chase is not the way to handle little Kevin

Whilst in foster we will discuss along with a behaviourist support how to deal with his resource guarding antics

Kevin and family members have been away on holiday, but sadly have had to cut short the trip away and bring Kevin home ,as he has nipped the lady’s Father(only a graze)

We know when he gets over excited he gets full on,or when he has had his sleep disturbed

We believe again this is due to a trigger which we have to figure out ,like filling in the missing jig saw piece

Pain can be a huge trigger ,also genetics and environmental or all three together

We need to help this very young boy ,help to make his state of mind better for him to manage

There has been talks within the family if having him put to sleep is an option, but after talking to them we believe we can help ,if we can find the right foster home

Our Requirements To Foster

Experienced dog people need only to apply please

A quiet home ,with person or persons willing to manage this very young dogs needs, with support as stated above

No full time workers,”if you work from home have you the time to give him everything he needs,he needs support not to be ignored”

We will consider rehoming him with another dog,but they must be spayed or neutered with no behavioural issues

This will involve several meet and greets

With this dog we believe he would be best suited to an “adult home only “he has not displayed any behavioural issues towards children yet,but we do not want to give him the opportunity ,a quiet relax home is what is needed

No visiting children in the home please

Safe and secure garden

No showboating him ,allow him to settle in your home with you for at least a week or more

Slow introductions ,and baby steps all the way please,no pressure to be put upon this young boy ,let him come to you

He will need a safe quiet area in your home, not in a busy walk way ,somewhere he can go a chill when he needs his space

If you have any day trips planned or hoildays please state on the application form

If you are going away soon, this would not be the dog to foster as he might be with you for a longer period of time

No retractable leads on pavement walks, just a basic normal lead please

Kevin will still pull on his lead if he knows where he is going (loose training will be required please)

Interaction with other dogs whilst out :- loves to play but dislikes his bottom being stiffed whilst on his lead

With people whilst out :- he is fine just walks past

Whilst in foster please do not allow anyone to stroke him, especially children this may startle him ,no children or adults should stoke dogs without asking, especially newly rescued dogs

Once he is assessed and on the road to management things may change

His general obedience is fair to good can always be improved

Further information

Kevin is a very young anxious little chap,he finds it hard to settle in a busy home

Whilst he gets over stimulated he will display behaviour of lunging, growling and has grabbed or nipped (this is something that does need addressing)

If he gets disturbed while trying to rest he will also show behaviour issues

His trust is lost, and only trusts his special person in his home, which is making things very difficult for the family’s dynamics

Kevin dislikes sudden movements

Kevin is toilet trained but with a change of environment he may display an accident until he settles, this can happen with any newly rescued dogs Once coming into a strange environment to them

His current owners have now started to use a crate ,this is not an instant fix ,crate training takes time.Should not be used as a punishment or jail time ,a place only used to be a happy safe environment

Stair gates are used in his current home,he sleeps in the kitchen at night

We as a responsible charity would advise any newly fostered dog needs company at night to settle please ,so please do think about if you can support a dog nearby at night until they are settled

Kevin can be left home alone for a few hours ,for shopping ,appointments etc

For any longer periods do consult us

He has never been destructive in his home

Travels well in the car in a crate

Enjoys paddling his toes in the water and rivers

Dislikes :- fireworks and loud noises

Likes :- to play with his toys especially ball with the boys in his home

Note from his human Mummy

Kevin needs an experienced owner who can give him lots of love and patience so he gains trust. At the moment he only finds this with his human Mummy in their home
