George : Ready for adoption
Introducing ‘Gorgeous George’
Please do read all of the following information fully; if you do not meet George’s criteria, please DO NOT apply – thank you.
George is located in Cambridgeshire, postcode area CB6. NOTE : The chosen applicant will be required to carry out as many ‘meet and greets’ as deemed necessary by DoodleAid. Please DO NOT APPLY unless you can meet these criteria.
George is a dearly loved member of his family and the decision to rehome, whilst necessary, has not been easy. George’s current home is very busy, and the family feel they are not able to give him the attention he needs. In short, George is a wonderful dog but with two young children in the house, George isn’t getting the exercise or attention he needs.
George used to be quite possessive of high value treats but appears to have grown out of this. The family have done some work swapping out the treats, and this seems to have stopped the behaviour. If asked to drop, George will. We can never be sure George has lost this trait, so caution is advised.
In his younger years, George has nipped, but never drawn blood.
George’s family cannot stress enough that George doesn’t have a bad bone in his body and will make someone a wonderful companion.
DoodleAid Requirements
No full time (absent) workers and George will require near constant company, although short periods alone can be tolerated. Would suit active retired couple, homeworkers with time for George or family with a stay at home adult.
George is lively and enthusiastic and at 38kg, only children over 10 would fit in with George’s dynamic.
George is not a cat fan, so no cats in the house please. George may get on with one other well behaved dog, but this would require several ‘meet and greets’.
Your garden must be safe and secure, any gates must have a lock.
Please advise us in your application if you have any holidays or periods away planned.
Absolutely no “showboating” George in (at least) the first week. This means allowing George time to settle in your home, with you/your family; the people that George will be living with.

George previously had repeated ear infections that ceased when he was moved to an insect protein based diet. George may be allergic to some proteins but is stable on his current diet.
George had surgery to resolve his ear issue (one ear canal removed) after he became resistance to the medication.
Grooming
George is prone to matting as he has a low shedding coat. He attends a professional groomer every 4/5 weeks (where he is well behaved). George is fine being brushed at home, but is not keen on having matts removed.
Exercise
George is currently getting 30 minute’s walk a day but would benefit from getting more exercise and stimulation and this is a key reason for rehoming.
George has fairly good recall with his current owners, but the successful new owners should not let George off lead until they have certainty George will come back to them.
George has always been friendly with other dogs, but new owners should exercise caution as you cannot be sure as to the temperament of any dog.
George does not pull on his lead unless stimulated by sight of dogs or people he knows. He’s improved with training and a new owner should continue this training.
George’s owners feel other activity, such as scent work or agility, would be great and George would enjoy it.
General Information
George is very calm round the house, not a barker and good with older children and other people. He’s very bouncy but doesn’t jump up on people or furniture.
George will sit, stay, wait for his food and go to bed when asked. He’ll wait by the door for toilet and whilst he can be excited around guests, he will calm down if told.
George is well socialised and attended puppy training classes. He’s toilet trained but accidents happen, especially whilst a dog is settling in to new surroundings.
George sleeps downstairs in the kitchen, but you may want to spend time with George at night initially, to give him reassurance and help him settle in.
George can be left for short periods of time and seems unphased by activity in the house. He is not destructive, he’ll tear up a food wrapper if left on the floor, but won’t take stuff from work surfaces.
George is not, and has never been crated.
George will travel well in the car, he lays down happily in the boot. George is not a jumper and at 38kg, you’ll need to be able to give him a hand in. He’ll put his front paws on the lip of the boot, but you’ll need give him a “leg” up.
George is scared of fireworks.
George is not a swimmer, but does like to splash in water.
George likes an game; balls, tug, anything that keeps him stimulated.
Owner’s Note
“George is a truly wonderful dog ! With the right exercise and training he would pretty much be perfect! We are heartbroken we don’t have the time to give him what he needs.
It is vital and essential for us that George is rehomed to someone who knows what is required for a big energetic dog and is extremely active and happy to take George with them, give lots of fun and happiness that he deserves.”
If you live in rented accommodation we will require documentation that a dog can live in this property
Our chosen applicants will be subjected to a full vetting and a homecheck
An adoption fee for George is £225.00
