Duke is a lovely fella ,has lived with his current owners since puppyhood

When a baby came along Duke’s life changed ,he has not adjusted to have baby in his environment

The baby is now starting to walk ,this is becoming even harder for Duke’s parents to manage

Duke does not like it when baby approaches him,he will give warning growls

He has never bitten just showed his dislike by growling ,sadly baby does not understand and neither does

Duke

Duke is spending his days in another room ,whilst baby is out and about

Once baby is sleeping ,or both parents are at home ,they can then have Duke back out with them

His owners feel this is not fair on Duke’s well -being ,and would love to see him in a home where he is not restricted ,and given more attention than they can give him

Recall - Great recall, comes back to name and mouth whistling. Doesn’t go to far on a walk off lead ,and if he does recalls back or just runs in a large circle around where you are and then comes back to you

Doodle Aid advice do not let Duke off lead until you have complete trust in his recall ,as he is new to you and his surroundings

Duke does pull on his lead at the start of a walk ,but he does calm down once he gets going

Interaction with other dogs - He usually ignores other dogs, but if they do come up to him 7/10 he will be fine, quick sniff and walks on. Some dogs he can not take too ,and will growl and bare teeth to warn them and then we will walk on

Not all dogs like each other, same as not all humans like each other

Further information

Duke is fun loving, cuddle, energetic at times and also calm

He has never bitten, but has given warning growls to the baby and some other dogs if he dislikes them

General Obedience- Good

He knows bed and usual tricks (sit, lay, stay etc). He does bark from owners window (onto the road and people walking past or coming to the door). He jumps up when we come home.

Great with adults - Great with people, snuggles and cuddles most people

Likes attention and being fussed

Children - Duke feels very uncomfortable around them

Duke is toilet trained but we always state any dog can have an accident in a new and strange environment

Duke is crate trained,he sleeps in his crate at night

(Doodle Aid advice on the first few nights Duke might like human company ,as it’s all new to him being rehomed)

He can be left alone a few hours, for instant shopping trips, appointments etc

Please no longer than 2 to 3 hours

Duke has never been destructive in his home

Car travel - Yes, is great in the car. Owners go away to Wales and Peaks and he is fine in the car

Dislikes - Loud noises (Storms, Fireworks), steam trains and children

Likes - Piggy is his favourtie toy and he likes to play hide and seek (with his owner & with treats around the house)

Duke loves the water ,but dislikes swimming in the sea

Duke is a lovely dog unfortunately he is just very uncomfortable with the new family dynamic ,they have found themselves in. They have attempted to make it work ,but as our little one is getting older ,and more mobile it is becoming more more difficult ,to keep Duke happy and comfortable in the environment

They have constant concerns something will happen out of his control ,due to him being so uncomfortable with the child (when they have the ability to stop this by rehoming him) by keeping both him and their child safe by doing so.

It’s been very hard for the family as Duke has been part of their family for so long ,well before baby came along

But it’s sadly not fair on Duke, the baby or them and everyone needs to be happy ,especially Duke

If you live in rented accommodation we will request documentation, that a dog can live in your home

All potential applicants will be required to have a full vetting and homecheck

The adoption fee for Duke is £180.00
