Rolo : EXPERIENCED foster needed

EXPERIENCED FOSTER REQUIRED FOR ROLO

Important info you must be prepared to help manage Rolo’s behavioural needs.

Doodle Aid will always give behaviourist support once a dog has settled

Rolo is located in Bournemouth Post Code area BH8

NOTE the potential applicant will be requested to travel to carry out as many meet and greets as requested.

Rolo is adored by his current owners, they have found this decision very hard to accept to rehome him

But with personal circumstances within the family,where by the owners child has become difficult around Rolo, Rolo has reacted badly to various situations only as a dog knows how

Sadly this has resulted in a few incidents of snapping,nipping and Rolo having to go into his crate

Child now takes their self into their room ,not a happy atmosphere for the family dynamics

Both the child and Rolo are both unpredictable,and this has escalated Rolo’s behaviour

Rolo is a resource guarder,one incident was his first time they wentcamping ,he got an item and owner tried to remove it ,this resulted in him nipping her hand.

No blood was drawn just a mark,not resulting into any medical care.

This little guy can resource guard toys and food ,so this will need careful management

Rolo slept in owners bed happily until the child decided to come in the bed,Rolo reacted again ,so he is now sleeping in his crate at night

Recently when owner is on the sofa and covered in a blanket ,he will growl if the owner moves too quickly

NOTE WHILST VISITING THE VETS ROLL IS VERY NERVOUS

(Vet will need to be informed and patient )

Our Requirements are as follows for fostering :-

Quiet environment

Active ,fit person or persons ,no full time works please

Person or persons willing to manage this little fellas behavioural issues,we do offer support with an accredited dog behaviourist

Management will include resource guarding and help with managing his barking as he does like the sound of his own voice at times

Absolutely no showboating him,allow him time to settle before meeting and greeting others

NO OTHER DOGS IN THE HOME

CHILD FREE HOME ,THIS INCLUDES NO VISITING CHILDREN

NO CATS

Your garden must be secure ,if you have gates they must have a lock

If you have a deep pond we request it is covered

Check you have no toxic plants or vegetables

If you have any holidays planned,please state on your application form

Doodle Aid will cover expenses for food,vets,dog behaviourist whilst any dogs are in foster care.

If any other purchases are required you will need to contact us directly

We are available for support 9 to 5 weekdays,unless it’s an emergency

Had baby extracted as they did not naturally fall out

Retained testicles

Grooming

Rolo has a curly coat,sheds minimally as all dogs shed some amount

Dislikes being groomed ,so no home grooming carried out

Bathed at home if rolled in something smelly

Attends groomer every few months

(Groomer should be informed he is an anxious dog)

Exercise

Rolo is walked 30 to 50 minutes per day

His recall we are told is good,but as a responsible charity we ask for NO foster dog to be allowed off lead,unless in a pre paid dog paddock that can be hired

He does pull on his lead to get to some grass

Tolerates other dogs whilst out ,this would need some management

Further information

Rolo is bouncy will jump up at people

Likes adults attention and will like to sit near you owner states

If an. Adult stokes him outside he will try and jump up and may do an excited wee wee

General obedience is pretty good,could do with some refreshing going along

Takes time but learns new commands

Attended puppy training in 2022

Fearful of child in his home,not shown this behaviour to other children outside

Rolo is toilet trained but we always state accidents may occur whilst a any dog settles

Rolo is crate trained,he sleeps in his crate at night

Can be left a few hours max ,and whilst out he is crated

Never been destructive in his home

Travels in the car fine ,little anxious never been in the car more than one hour

Dislikes :- loud noises,child in the home,on high alert in his home

Unaware if he can swim ,not a fan of water

Favourite games and toys :- Loves his lion toy

Enjoys a ball in the house/garden but not on walks

Rolo is not loving his own environment where he is living,we believe in time he can adjust in a quiet environment.

This will not be easy for him or his fosters,everyone will need to be calm ,patient and allow Rolo the time he needs to adjust.

If you live in rented accommodation we will need documentation,that a dog can live in this property
