Toffee : We're really sorry

Once again we have gone through a re-home process, invited applications at the owners behest, advertised and used our time and process to vet applicants (this take a lot of time as we read all applications in detail). We then shortlist and invite successful applicants to go through our two stage home check process. The successful applicants then go through our rigorous ‘meet and greet’ process, only then do we start a trial (with insurance and cover) before finally rehoming the dog with a lifetime of support.

You’ll appreciate then, when the owners rings and says “Its OK I found a home” we then have to spend so much more time calling the rehome family who will be upset, and logging the time (now wasted) on the process. Many of these “I found a home” come on the back of the adverts and social media work DoodleAid volunteers have done -essentially we end up being a freeads for the owner.

Please think before you use us - we will put our faith in you as the owner and work hard to vet, test and get the best placement for your dog.

Please give the organisation and our volunteers the respect they deserve - thank you

Little Toffee is a much loved member of her family,it’s been such a hard decision for her parents to decide to rehome her

Over the last few months Toffee has found living with two very young children difficult to cope with.

Little children do not understand ,when a dog has had enough and sadly dogs only react how they know how

When pushed to her limits Toffee has given a warning growls which has progressed into nipping the little children ,she has never drawn blood

It’s really a sad situation where as neither the children or Toffee ,can fully understand ,and the adults need to be on alert at all times to watch all of them.

Boundaries have been broken ,and Toffee is not living the life she needs, and the children are wary of her too.

Toffee needs a quiet child free zone to desensitise and a place to chill out and relax.
