Dylan is adored by his current owners but significant change in circumstance means rehoming is in Dylan’s best interest. Despite best efforts and a lot of patience from Dylan, he has not adjusted to small children and is often shut away or put in the garden for his own protection (which Dylan finds distressing due to separation anxiety). Since the arrival of littles humans, Dylan has not received the affection and attention he has grown accustomed to and this has been detrimental to Dylan’s happiness. With heavy hearts, Dylan’s current owners want to put Dylan’s needs before their own and feel he would thrive in an environment with older children who understand how to respect his space and shower him in the gentle attention and playfulness that he craves. Dylan would equally suit an active retiree(s), and the company of one other dog in an environment filled with long walks and undivided attention.

It is indicated for the treatment of osteoarthritis in dogs and cats. Meloxicam is also used to treat pain associated with surgery.
Dylan has a healthy appetite, he doesn’t resource guard but does have food sensitivities i.e. will vomit bile if stomach is empty too long. Two meals daily and plenty of healthy treats will keep Dylan’s tummy happy. Dylan previously thrived on Butternut box but has transitioned to Naturo (Grain Free) as a more affordable option ahead of rehoming.
Grooming Requirements
Dylan has a soft silky wavy coat, only sheds minimal, all dogs shed some amount
Every few days a light brushing of knot prone areas (ears, beard and tail) with detangling brush
He prefers to be brushed whilst having a cuddle in bed, shortly after waking
Dylan is calm enough to allow brushing at this time of the day, later in the day Dylan will be too excited to allow brushing
Professional Groomer:-Dylan is washed/trimmed by groomer at least once a month. Extra wash appointments during rainy/muddy seasons. Dylan doesn’t really enjoy being washed at home, he is nervous of the shower head. Full cut dependant on growth and time of year
Dylan is hypoallergenic and professionally groomed/cut every 6wks. During muddy months, Dylan has additional wash only appointments to keep his fur clean and matt-free.
Doodle Aid is always happy to recommend an qualified experienced groomer
Exercise
During the week Dylan has brief morning walk at local park (20mins), off lead walk (1hr) , plus lots of garden play. Weekends - 2hrs daily countryside/beach walks
Dylans recall is good , (recall to whistle (with fingers) or Dylan)
NOTE :- Doodle Aid does not recommend any newly adopted dog to go off lead unless in a secure hired paddock ,or when you have complete trust in each other this is most important
Whilst on a lead Dylan did pull on his lead when a puppy, Dylan would attempt to chase cars meaning Dylan is accustomed to off lead countryside/beach walks. Dylan can be road walked as this behaviour now rarely occurs, but new owners should be wary of Dylan being spooked by cars !
This might be something that his new owners might like to explore with a dog behaviourist ,if they feel they have not got the experience
This lovely boys obedience is good and he interacts well with other dogs whilst out and about
Dylan would flourish in agility classes/competition,totally wonderful for both humans and dogs to bond
Further information
Dylan is Affectionate, Cuddly, Excitable, Intelligent, and can be protective over his family ,Dylan has a very expressive tail
Behavioural occurrences :- Back in January 2025, a Ridgeback knocked over our toddler. Dylan rushed to protect him and was subsequently attacked by the Ridgeback. Fortunately this incident resulted in superficial wounds only, and Dylan’s personality or behaviour has remained unchanged
Dylan can be nervous around new people, in particular, knocking at the door and / entering the home,he will bark until settled and reassured
Dylan has a curly piglet tail
This unique feature means it’s easy to judge Dylan’s mood
It curls when he’s happy, excited and becomes floppy when Dylan feels nervous, or poorly
Dylan will respond to the following commands:
- Sit
- Wait (show Dylan your palm)
- Lie Down (touch 2-fingers to the floor)
- “On your bed”
- Go on OR Come on (to release him from ‘wait’ and / to have him follow you)
- Recall to whistle (with fingers) or ‘Dylan’
He has attended puppy training classes and taught additional behaviours at home. Very intelligent and food motivated - highly capable of advanced tricks and skills
Dylan is extremely affectionate and loving, but does suffer from separation anxiety. Because of this, Dylan’s current owners feel he cannot be left alone for significant periods of time (2 hours), and generally take Dylan out with the
Doggy company would significantly improve Dylan’s anxiety about being left alone
Dylan owns several soft toys for ‘suckling’ when stressed
Very energetic and highly intelligent, Dylan is food motivated and has the capacity to learn tricks, commands or even agility training
Dylan’s favourite game is fetch, he has never resource guarded toys but often forgets not to play indoors and hasn’t outgrown ‘play nipping’
Dylan can be nervous/protective of his ‘pack’ around new people, in particular, knocking at the door and / entering the home
Dylan will bark and rush the door/ person. This is a front, as Dylan will quickly befriend visitors when presented with treats
At present, Dylan is shut in a separate room before opening the front door to deliveries etc
Dylan cannot be left unattended around human food and though he shows little/no interest in fox poo, he will treat human faeces and horse poo as tasty snacks
Dylan is toilet trained , but we always like to state accidents may occur with any dog entering a new environment
This darling boy loves to sleep with his humans ,human bed sleeper, has been known to share the pillow
Dylan has spent the majority of his life sleeping at the foot of the bed or on the floor next to the bed
For past 2mths, Dylan has slept downstairs on the sofa but would prefer not to be separated from his loved ones

Dylan has never been destructive in his home
He owns several soft toys for ‘suckling’,this is comfort whilst owners go out
He is not crate trained,no reason to be crated
