Dexter is located in Lancing BN15 in West Sussex
We would expect you to travel to carry out several meet and greets before making a commitment
This handsome young Sproodle is dearly loved by his current owner, but recently they have been diagnosed with asthma. This has resulted in them requesting our help ,to find him a suitable foster home with a view to adopt
He also shares a home with a toddler, who is unpredictable and has backed Dexter into a corner, this resulted in a warning growl, then followed by a nip ,no blood was drawn.
The child was warned but ignored the warning signs ,due to their age and not understanding
Dexter also suffers with separation anxiety, which will need gentle management, this will all be discussed further with us
Dexter can be nervous around new people, once he gains your trust he will become very friendly, just needs time and patience
Whilst a a routine visit at the vets ,who knew Dexter is anxious, they did not allow him time to settle and went straight into an examination.
When the vet popped the stethoscope on his body,he reacted by giving a warning growl.
Doodle Aids Requirements for A Foster Home
People at home ,as Dexter does not cope with being left home alone

Will consider a home with older dog savvy children aged 12 plus
Dexter can live with one other dog who is either spayed or neutered
Cannot live with cats ,will chase
Please note Dexter will bark when the door is knocked,or new people visit his home.
This is due to his anxiety but will calm down eventually when they ignore him,and then he will warm to the the visitors in his own time
Let Dexter come to you you ,do not force yourself onto a nervous dog
We will require a safe and secure garden, with fences at least 5 ft and locks on gates

Most of all we need the fosters to give Dexter time to settle,no showboating him for at least a week, and to be happy to work along side a behaviourist when needed.
Doodle Aid will be supportive throughout his foster period, will ask of you to take him to the vets for health checks, groomers when required and give him all the love he so needs.

Interaction with other dogs :- Loves other dogs and sees each one as a play mate. Can get too much if the other dogs are not the same match.Always wants to play.
More Information
Dexter is cuddly, boisterous, loving, anxious, neurotic can be reactive, sensitive, sweet, affectionate and very handsome
His general obedience is hit and miss. His recall is generally quite good. He definitely would benefit from working with a behaviourist as he is very clever and eager to please. He does sit, paw, other paw, leave it and wait.
Behaviours :- He ‘resource guards’ owners Mother when toddler is around and doesn’t like her going near her. He also gets possessive of toys that are not his own, owners believe he may be trying to get attention by doing this. He can start growling when does this and bearing teeth. He can get grumpy if you try and get him away from the door when someone knocks on the door.
Dexter is toilet trained ,but as we always state accidents may occur whilst a dog settles in a new environment
He sleeps downstairs on the owners sofa ,used to sleep in their bedroom but due to having asthma he cannot sleep there anymore
Dexter is not ok being left home alone :- They have managed to get him better with this, with time and patience but in an unknown place he will bark relentlessly and experiences anxiety when away from owners
This would need addressing with support whilst in foster care
Dexter is not crate trained ,if introducing a crate this would take time
He has not been destructive in his home
Dexter travels well in the car,in the boot or back seat
Dislikes :- anything that makes a loud sound and moves unexpectedly, he will usually jump if something catches him off guard. He doesn’t like the hoover much. He’s a sensitive boy.
He loves the water and the beach
Favourite things :- find the cheese, playing fetch, loving his walks and playtime
If you live in rented accommodation we will need documentation that a dog can live in this property
