This is a heartbreaking situation for Cookie’s owner,as her owner has a huge bond with Cookie and Cookie feels the same for her human Mum

Cookie has always been a little nervy in her ways ,but since a baby has joined the family Cookie is find it very hard to adapt

Sadly Cookie has become very attached to Mum ,and Cookie cannot cope with the baby ,whom has started moving around ,being a baby making loud noises etc ,it’s making her retreat ,she takes herself off to her crate at times

There seems to be some jealousy ,as Cookie cannot understand why her little world has change so much

Her family did prepared Cookie for the arrival of a baby ,and continued to help Cookie, but sadly Cookie will just not settle ,and it’s getting worse as the baby is getting more mobile.

Note from her loving owners

Cookie has been a wonderful companion for so many years. She is gentle and sweet natured, curious and clever, and generally low maintenance day to day. She loves to run in open spaces, chase balls, go on woodland or beach walks, sit in pubs and snooze away her afternoons. She is very well house trained, non destructive and self regulating (she will create physical distance or take herself to her crate if she’s had enough). She has been through a lot of life change ( covid lockdowns;moving, new baby

We feel deep sadness that after almost 7 great years the introduction of our baby , who is very boisterous very mobile and vocal, and a lot of routine and location changes has meant she cannot rest well during the day at home. She’s exhibited new anxiety, frustration and some jealousy. She is scared of the baby and trembles around her. Shes become more clingy to me specifically and it’s making her on edge and velcro to just me since I returned to work and is complex as I travel for work.

We’ve tried behaviour training advice before and after baby and had to seek medical intervention from the vet (gaba prescription) which has somewhat worked for the day napping, but is not a fair long term solution for her.She is a beautiful loving dog and she deserves a happy second chapter.
