Archie : Ready for Adoption

Introducing Amazing Archie,Looking For His Forever Home

Please do read all the following information fully, before applying,if you do not match the criteria,do not apply, thank you

Archie is located in Cumbria Post Code area CA25,you will be expected to travel to carry out several meet and greets

Archie is looking for his forever home due to his owners lifestyle being incompatible with Archie’s requirements

Archie is an active/energetic /bouncy young dog,can be stubborn at times, needs people willing to support him with some extra training

He does pull on his lead ,his recall will need some addressing, and more socialisation would really benefit him

He is a home boy loves a routine and dislikes too much change ,he can get anxious and excited at the same time ,with this he does not bark but cries as only dogs do

He is very much loved by his folks, adores people and has never shown any aggression to people or dogs

Doodle Aids Requirements

Archie needs a home with people who have the time for an active /energetic dog

He needs more exercise, plus stimulation ,he is highly intelligent and loves to be around people

He really is a good candidate for agility or scent work

He has never lived with another dog,but other dogs have stayed at his property with no issues

We would consider rehoming Archie with another dog ,as long as you are prepared to carry out many meet and greets

Archie lives happily with a cat ,if you own a cat we would recommend slow introductions ,as his cat is different to your cat

With children we will only rehome him with children aged 12 ,as he will knock little ones over with his bouncy lively behaviour

Archie can be left a few hours per day,but whilst settling into a new home we would prefer his new owners to be at home

Your garden must be safe and secure ,as he can jump over smaller fences

6 foot fencing/walls are requested

If you have gates these also must be talll and with locks

If you have any holidays planned please state on you application form

His ears will need checking every few days ,and cleaned as and when required

Archie takes meds Apoquel 8mg daily, which is around 1/2 a tablet a day

His owners get a prescription from the vet ,and purchase these online

It works out to around 50p for half a tablet

Archie takes these to help with his ears, itching and chewing his feet

He is ONLY on a diet of Pooch & Mutt health & digestion dry food

Treats :- Forthglade soft bites - salmon or lamb

NO POULTRY BASED FOOD

Anything else will upset his digestive system !

September 2024 Archie had a mishap ,he slipped off an embankment onto a railway line.

This resulted in grazes and loosing one of his teeth

Very lucky boy he did not do any lasting damage to himself

Grooming

Archie is more Spaniel than Poodle,he has a wavy coat that does SHED !

If you have dog related allergies this may not be the dog for you

He is brushed every few days, along with his ears being checked

Full groom every 6/8 would be appropriate

Exercise

Short walk every day, his owners try to get him out to the beach or in the fields to run and play with his ball several times a week

Recall needs some working on,with any rescue dog we can only suggest do not allow them off lead unless you have complete trust and control

Interaction with other dogs whilst out :- Often excited by other dogs and wants to play, occasionally becomes aggravated and barks depending if another dog annoys him

Like us humans we do not like some humans ,and not all dogs like some other dogs

General information

Archie’s loves people,he is your typical Cockapoo ,highly intelligent and, needs more to occupy his little ticking brain

Archie is very excitable and quickly becomes unsettled when it comes to visitors, leaving the house, travelling in the car or any new environment which manifests as ignoring all instruction, crying/howling and trying to get away.

Archie is toilet trained, but as we state on all our adverts ,whilst a dog is settling into a new environment please allow for any accidents

He is crate trained ,following a routine (crated whilst home alone)

Non destructive in his home

Sleeps in his bed in the owners bedroom ,or on the floor

Car travel :- Archie is not particularly good in the car we are told, gets very excited and takes time to settle down

He is not scared of fireworks

He doesn’t dislike the water, he will swim if encouraged but not of his own accord

Archie loves playing fetch with a ball and will happily do so all day

Extra information from Archie’s owners

We feel Archie would benefit greatly from someone with the time and energy to give him,in return we are sure they will gain a loyal companion. Archie requires a lot of stimulation and exercise to be content and we struggle to provide this, we have often thought he’d be a great candidate for something like agility or hun dog training and he’s very bright and energetic and not scared of loud noises or fireworks.

Archie is also very happy to relax in the house but can become unsettled if not stimulated and becomes very bouncy and overexcited when having visitors.

Archie is fine to be left alone in his crate and will happily snooze, we don’t leave him alone for any long periods. Archie is certainly happiest around his people and will follow us around the house.

Archie is generally fine with other dogs subject to introductions and we often have friends and family dogs come to stay with us, after Archie’s initial burst of excitement this has never been an issue and they get on great.

Great boy just needs the right home for his little paws ,if it’s you please read everything before applying
