Please Do Read All The Following Information Fully,Before Submitting An Application
Location Derby Post Code Area DE21 ,we will request you are prepared to travel ,to carry out as many meet and greets ,as requested
Introducing Jake a young Bernedoodle age 15 months
This is Jake’s second home ,due to no fault of his own
First home we believe the other dog in the home was a resource guarder ,so they rehomed Jake ,as it was not fair on Jake living with another dog with issues
His current owners are rehoming Jake ,due to changes in accommodation
Jake lives with another dog a dear little French Bulldog ,they get along wonderfully ,a bit of rough and tumble takes place but non aggressive play
This gentle giant is anxious fella, can take time to warm to male humans, but once he gains their trust he will become friends
We advise slow introductions ,without any pressure on Jake, let him come to you and let him progress at his own pace
Jake is also nervous at the groomers tries to jump out the bath, will take two persons to groom him.
It would be best to speak with an experience groomer ,before taking him into their salon
Many groomers understand some dogs can be nervous ,so they will help make the experience better for the dogs, just work together with your groomer
A good example to find a highly qualified groomer is the Groomers Spotlight
The vets also he can be nervous,he will go into the vets, but the owners sits on the floor with him, chatting and comforting him in the waiting area.
Once inside he will allow the vet to examine him
We would suggest finding an understanding vets practice and take Jake into the waiting area, many times before even seeing a vet, this is to build up his confidence.
Jake is still a young dog, still exploring the world he is now part of ,he may bounce around and jump up,get giddy and over excited.
Jake does not understand personal space ,he is your big friendly giant
He dislikes being on his own ,once he gets to know you ,will never be alone whilst Jake is in your life
Please understand Jake is a large dog, will need space and a good sized garden
Always good to progress with more training going forward,be great for bonding and great for the future of any dog
Doodle Aid’s Requirements
Jake will need a home with fit and active people ,whom are willing to put in time, love and patience for his future care

His current owners do take him to work some days ,in a safe and quiet environment

You must be prepared to travel for as many meet and greets as we request ,as we do not want to rehome Jake again
It has to be about the dogs, this is why we work this way

Grooming
Jake does shed minimally,so before applying please do take this onto consideration as we do not want to rehome him,if you have dog related allergies
His coat is pretty similar to a Bernese Mountain dog, double coated with a slight wave
He will allow his owners to brush him through, but you must have some tasty treats to hand
With attending a professional groomers he can be nervous ,please work together with your groomer ,in gaining confidence for Jake’s well-being please
Exercise
Jake usually has one to two walks per day,or he is quite happy to have a rest day in the week
His new owners will need to work on recall ,so please do not take Jake off his lead until you have complete trust in his recall
Jake can get easily distracted out on his walks by other dogs ,still young and still learning
Jake will pull on his lead if he has not been walked for a day,or if he see’s another dog ( we suggest some loose lead training going forward)
Interaction with other dogs:- Jake can get excited by some dogs, also he may get anxious, but he will always be friendly but might does not understand personal space
Further information
Jake’s temperament :- Lively and bouncy, loves to cuddle when familiar, will sometimes sit himself in the other room and sleep, generally sleeps on the floor next to the bed, hates to be left on his own, will jump up if excited your typical over friendly goofy ball
Jake has attended training lessons in the past, but not recently
General obedience :- He knows sit, wait and down. Very good at waiting
Jake has never been aggressive or bitten,he rather shy away from strangers ,he does not know to start with, until he gets to know them
We will declare Jake does suffer from separation anxiety,he just loves to be around his people
He can be left for a few hours per day ,say if you need to attend to appointments,or go shopping
If left for longer periods he has been known to chew a door frame ,so please do work on his separation issues
Jake is toilet trained ,but we always state please be aware any dog might have an accident in a new and strange environment
He has never been in a crate and we advise if you are going to crate train,do it slowly and make it a nice calm place of rest
Jake is very good travelling in a car
Dislikes :- Loud noises, shouting, sprays like perfume scare him when you spray them
Jake’s simply loves water ,as soon as he see’s water he will jump in for a swim
His favourite things :- Loves the ball, anything that squeaks or crinkles, snuffle mats
Any potential applicants we will request them to be available for a full vetting and a homecheck
If you live in rented accommodation we will ask for documentation that a dog can live within this property
