Scooby

Scooby didn’t have the best start in life and after several homes before the age of 2, Scooby found himself again, looking for his forever home. That’s when he came to DoodleAid and James offered him the urgent foster home he needed. DoodleAid had a feeling these two could be what they both needed and they were right when James contacted them to say he wanted to adopt Scooby,

Here’s what James had to say.

‘After losing my labradoodle Rusty in May this year. I wasn't sure that I was ready, then I got talking to Michelle Waterson about fostering for Doodle Aid. I had doodle experience, room and close to the countryside, and importantly time where they could gain their confidence again.

During the time up until July I spoke to Julie and Caz who kept in contact asking if I was still open to fostering. Then out of the blue one Wednesday Sarah McAllister contacted me to ask if I could foster the next day. Justine Hurley came and did the home check (she already had experience adopting a doodle)

Then this giant boy called Scooby turned up the next day. He was a bit forlorn for a few days then slowly found his feet. This was just the start of the foster journey, which was so well supported by DoodleAid. At no time did I feel isolated with Scooby. Any advice about anything and everything, I was so well supported. From Vet, food, etc. A visit from Kirsten Dillon behaviour specialist for DoodleAid was invaluable to me & Scooby.

It took only a few short weeks and Scooby had his forever home. With me.

I can't thank the professional, but down to earth approach from Doodle Aid. A very important point is the support. Locally to myself are many connected to DoodleAid, but nationally where our journey started.

Scooby has settled in and made many new friends humans and dogs. He is a big softie and very vocal when it's play time always with a wagging tail. Though he still needs his reassurance going forward.

I can't thank DoodleAid enough and many others for the help in the past, present and now and in the future.

James and Scooby X’

DoodleAid are over the moon for them both and thank James for giving this wonderful boy exactly what he needed.

Scooby is doing great with James and just celebrated his 2nd birthday. What better present than the perfect forever home!
