Meet Ziggy

Ziggy is looking for his forever home ,with experienced owners
Please do read all the following information fully, before applying.
If you do not match Ziggy’s criteria do not apply ,thank you
Ziggy is located Christchurch in Dorset
You will be expected to travel,to carry out some meet and greets ,we ask for several so the dog in question ,can get acquainted with you all
Ziggy’s history he was purchased as a puppy,to become a school therapy dog
He started this at around 12 weeks old be introduced into the school ,with the staff and children
The first year he seemed to manage the school routine ,with a trainer on board, the trainer had personal issues ,and the training was put on hold
This left Ziggy without training support and so he days were spent in the school office ,only going out for toilet breaks
Ziggy found this to be frustrating, boring and needed more enrichment, this lead to him stealing office supplies which he started resource guarding
Whilst trying to work and manage a young dog ,is very difficult, especially with things in an office that can be toxic to him,and managing the resource guarding situation
Obviously any toxic items are a danger, and he would first growl then snap if you tried to retrieve the items
During the Summer holidays his Guardian cared for him,but coming back to the school in September he was not happy to be there
The school then decided he was no longer required ,due to his on going behaviours
So he was lucky enough to have his guardian ,whom the school signed full control over to them ,but it’s been very difficult for them managing with working full time, having children to care for ,it’s been a balancing act for everyone involved
The owners have been using dog walkers but unfortunately,he snapped at them after they tried to remove something off his nose.
Ziggy is home alone all day, his owners are trying to juggle quick lead walks but this is no life for him. He has recently been neutered ,in the hope this behaviour might decrease with time
“Ziggy has not bitten “ warning growls and air snapping ,and mouthed ,never any broken skin
He has also has licked the dishes ,when the family have been loading the dishwasher, if you try to move him to go past he with growl and snap
UPDATED INFORMATION ℹ️ his resource guarding is vastly improved since being neutered, still can resource guarding on occasion but with management he is a lot better ,states his owners
This is such a sad story ,as a very young puppy Ziggy’s might have been overwhelmed and introduced to everything a bit too quickly.
It takes alot of training ,to become a therapy dog and without the trainers support it must have been hard for all concerned
His Guardian ,now his owner ,has been in Ziggy’s life since he was a puppy ,and is heartbroken with the outcome ,for him and them
In the right home with management, patience, time and lots of love we hope Ziggy can adjust better with things in the future
Ziggy is an adorable boy but sadly this was possibly not the right environment for him ,and now he has lost his way a bit.
Let’s see if we have another Guardian angel who can help this young boy, with our support

Further information ℹ️
Ziggy is a fun lovely, typical bouncy young dog ,he is affectionate to his lady owner and enjoys getting her attention.
With the children in the family he does not liked to be over cuddled ,and will give a warning growl if it gets to become an issue for him
Not sure if this stems back to be overwhelmed by children in the school
His general obedience is good and he is eager to please
Ziggy used to love children, he was amazing in school ,and used to lie on his back with his paws in the air expecting every child to stroke him on the school gates. He continues to love children ,but his owners thinks he is bored and frustrated and will act out for attention
