Meet Fergal
Requirements
Fergal is a big boy and very athletic and energetic, you must be fit and active yourself please.
We are looking for a home where Fergal will be so very loved, gaining socialisation and training. It’s a great bonding experience for both Fergal and his new owners.
Absolutely NO full time workers, as Fergal needs human company.
We will rehome him with another dog, but they must be either spayed or neutered.
Children over the age of 12 (Fergal is still a bouncy boy and it would be irresponsible of us to rehome him with younger children).
Your property must be safe and secure, fences 6 foot and if you have gates they must have locks.
If your home is rented, we will require documentation that a dog can live in your property.
If you have any holidays planned please planned, please state on your application form.
Background
This adorable youngster is dearly loved by his current owners, but due to personal circumstances, they feel they cannot give him all the time and attention he needs.
It’s with a heavy heart they feel he needs a new home, where he will get everything he so deserves.
Exercise
Fergal gets walked twice a day, and does attend doggy day care.
Here at DoodleAid, we would like to see Fergal settled in a home with another dog, with people at home, so that he would not have to attend doggy day care. Fergal, we are certain, would really love this lifestyle.
He is only off lead in a very safe and secure area, this is because his recall is not always 100%.
He is easily distracted by other dogs & people, as he loves interacting with everyone.
Our advice is practice recall training, do not allow him off lead, until you are confident with his recall.
Fergal is still learning on lead walking, he may pull on occasions, but a few treats at hand always helps with his training.
In terms of interaction with other dogs whilst out, Fergal loves other dogs, but can get over excited. Some other dogs may not appreciate this, so always be eyes on.
Fergal has never shown any aggressive behaviour to dogs or people.
Likes & Dislikes
Likes: Playing fetch with a ball
Dislikes: None!
Fergal has a curly coat, sheds minimally as all dogs shed some amount.
He is brushed daily at home, which is wonderful, he is not a fan of his legs and head being brushed, however he does like his back and sides being brushed.
Attends a professional groomers every 4 to 5 weeks.
Fergal is your typical fun loving, goofy ball of a dog, still learning, still exploring the world, very energetic, can still jump up with his excited energy.
Fergal loves the attention and loves his cuddles.
Remember Fergal is still very young, just needs some quality time to settle in his new environment.
Fergal is toilet trained, but as we state on all adverts, be prepared for any accidents whilst any dog settles into a new home
Fergal sleeps in his crate, which has a pen attached which allows him to move around and have access to water.
But we are sure he would love a bed in your bedroom, or to sleep on your bed.
He has never been destructive in his home.
Fergal’s general obedience is good, keeping up with his training is a great advantage.
We like a home where Fergal is only left a few hours in the day please (like whilst you attend appointments or shopping etc).
In terms of car travel, Fergal travels pretty well. His owners put him in the back seat, with a harness and lead attached to the seat. He does get a bit excited but normally has some pate which he will lie down for, and settle.
Fergal has never had the experience to go swimming, but his owners are convinced he would probably love it.
