Meet Violet

Background

Violets owners adore Violet and she adores them both. Sadly Violet’s behaviour has escalated in the last 6 months or so and this has been very hard on her owners to manage.

Violet lives with another female doodle who is a year younger than her and the play has become very rough at times between them. Both bitches have been spayed.

Her owners are finding it hard now to manage this behaviour as it’s escalated outside the home towards other dogs, she will bark at other dogs whilst on her lead. Violet has never bitten any other dogs but play is rough and they are worried in the future she may react further if pushed.

Violet is walked in fields and quiet areas away from any other dogs.

Violet is possessive of her toys and food around other dogs only so we would only place her in a home without any other dogs. A lot of Violets problems stem from being a very anxious girl, nervous of loud noises etc.

Nobody is sure what has triggered Violets behaviour, another dog awhile ago did aggressively have go at Violet, so she might be on high alert now from this experience.

With her behaviour it’s like putting the missing jigsaw bit into place, just need to find the piece.

DoodleAid will provide full support with Violets fosters which will include some travelling to vets, groomers and liaising with a qualified dog behaviourist. We also provide food and necessities. All we ask in return is regular updates with the team.

Requirements

We definitely require an experienced foster for this lovely girl. No other dogs or visiting dogs. No cats.

Children need to be 13 and over and be dog savvy (absolutely no babies or toddlers visiting).

Fences and gates need to be at least 6 foot ,as Violet has jumped 4 ft gates

No showboating Violet for at least the first week, allow her to desensitise in her new home with her new people who are going to help her adjust.

Exercise

Violet is walk by the gentleman of the household, walked in fields away from other dogs for an hour and a half every day.

Violet we are told is whistle trained, love her fosters to continue with this is they are happy to do so. Her recall is good most of the time, no fosters should allow a foster dog off lead unless in a pre-paid private paddock.

Violet will pull on her lead on occasions, loose lead practice would be a wonderful addition to help her improve.

Whilst out Violet will react to other dogs by giving a growl, she has never bitten we have been informed but warning growls.

DoodleAid will supply a behaviourist support for all Violets needs to help her going forward as long as her foster is happy and willing to assist.

From her owners

Violet likes to please you when you get in she will always bring you a present one of her toys. She’s very intelligent dog and learns things very quickly. We love Violet very much but we just can’t cope with her anymore.
