Meet Bud
Background
Bud is dearly loved by his whole family and it’s been a heartbreaking decision to make for them all, they want the best for their boy.
Work commitments, activities with children, a very busy lifestyle has been very demanding on the whole of family. With this in mind Bud needs more Bud time, they feel he should be in a home where he gets more than they can give him at present.
Requirements
Experienced active owners only need to apply. No full time works.
Can live with one other dog, good in temperament and likes play. Remember Bud is a large type of crossbreed. No cats, Bud might chase a cat that moves too quickly.
Children over 10 only as as much as although he is good with children, he may knock smaller ones over. If you have visiting smaller children this would need supervision at all times, state ages on your application form.
Absolutely no showboating the first week, allow Bud to settle with the family in the home he is living in.
Your property must be large enough to house Bud,including a large enough garden
All fences must be at least 6 foot, gates must have a lock. No toxic plants. If you gave a pond it should be covered.
Exercise
Bud will require two good walks per day.
He can go off lead in a safe and secure area. DoodleAid does not advise allowing any newly rescued dog off lead until trust has been fully established between dog and owner.
Bud’s recall is inconsistent. If he is with another dog, he comes when called. However, if he is on his own and sees another dog, recall can be hit or miss. More training in this area would benefit Bud and his new owners.
His owners use a Gencon lead, as he may pull occasionally.
During walks, Bud enjoys interacting and playing with other dogs. He may bark with excitement or try to jump up to play.

Bud has a soft and silky coat when short - fluffy and wiry when long.
Minimal shedder as all dogs shed some amount of fur.
He will need regular brushing and combing, starting at the roots of his coat. This should be carried out at least every other day, likes to be given treats whilst he is home groomed.
Bud attends a professional groomers every 6 to 8 weeks.
Bud is a delightful, gentle giant of a boy. He can be boisterous, excitable, loving, friendly, and sensitive.
He has never shown aggressive behaviour and has never bitten.
His general obedience is good, though he can have selective hearing when excited.
Bud is fairly well socialised but would benefit from more socialising in his new home, perhaps even joining a training class or two. This is also a great bonding experience.
Diet: Bud eats James Wellbeloved fish and rice (no grain), with a topper. He also has a wet gravy meat pouch or fish, tuna in sunflower oil, mackerel, or sardines. He gets two heaped scoops of kibble plus topper, twice a day.
Treats: Bud is very treat motivated, which is ideal for training. He enjoys anything, including pigs’ ears, chicken, and a packet of ham.
Bud is toilet trained, though as with all dogs entering a new home, accidents may occur.
He sleeps in his bed downstairs at night. With any new rescue, it is often a good idea for owners to stay near him the first few nights to help him settle.
He can be left alone for a few hours per day. Initially, leave him no longer than an hour, then gradually build up to two hours. Dogs are social creatures and should not be left for long periods.
He has never been destructive in the home and is not crate trained.

Bud needs a gentle but consistent owner, preferably a family who are outdoors a lot and can dedicate time to training. Another dog in the household may be suitable, ideally one that can match his energy and handle his sometimes bossy, playful nature.
He loves his luxuries, such as being on the sofa and touching his humans. He will sleep on your feet if needed and is a cheeky chancer, give him an inch, and he will take a mile. He will ensure he gets his food first before anyone else eats.
Bud is lovely but needs someone with previous dog experience who is gentle yet firm. He is a big boy and does not always realise his size or strength.
