Meet Grace

Background

Grace is looking for her new home due to her families change of circumstances with their working hours. This has been a very hard decision for them all but feel Grace needs more than they can offer her at present.

Requirements

Prefers females to males but will gain confidence with males once she gets to know them. Can live with children age 10 plus.

Can live with ONE other dog, at feeding times they will need to eat in separate rooms as Grace tends to guard food bowls. No cats.

Safe and secure garden, if gated a lock must be provided.

No showboating Grace for at least a week, allow her to explore her new environment with her new people.

Exercise

Grace has a few walks per day between 45 and 60 minutes.

Recall is fair with her owners, we do not recommend any newly rehomed dogs going off lead until you have complete trust in one another.

Grace does not pull on her lead, but if she hears a loud noise such as a bang or firework her owner states she will pull then.

Grace interacts with other dogs fine is friendly, she doesn’t tend to approach many dogs but if she does she always sniffs them first.

Likes & Dislikes

Likes: Her cuddly toys and playing fetch with her ball.

Dislikes: Fireworks while out walking. She will also move away if people try to stroke her during walks.

Grace has a soft wavy coat, sheds minimally as all dogs shed some amount.

Likes to be brushed at home, this should be carried out at least a few times per week.

Attends a professional groomers every 8 to 10 weeks.

Behaviour: Grace will steal human food if given the opportunity. She will bark when someone rings the doorbell. She won’t go to the toilet in the garden at night, so owners place a puppy pad by the back door during the night. Although she is toilet trained, she can take time to use a new garden and has never gone to the toilet in my mum and dad’s garden. DoodleAid believes that moving house, combined with wildlife visits such as resident foxes, may have affected this behaviour.

Diet: After her bout of colitis, she is kept on the same diet of Harringtons grain-free food.

Treats: Only given Bonios and Misfit Chews (light blue packet), as these are the only treats that do not upset her tummy.

Grace sleeps downstairs at night. While settling into her new home, her new owners may wish to stay with her for the first few nights.

She can be left alone for a few hours per day but not for long periods, as she likes to be near her humans for company.

Grace is not crate trained.

She travels well in the car.

It is not known if she can swim, but she enjoys paddling with her paws.
