Meet Reggie

Background

Reggie is seeking a new forever home, due to personal commitments within his family they are finding it difficult to juggle life with a puppy.

This is no reflection on Reggie himself, he is a much loved family member and they want the best for their boy.

Requirements

No full time workers.

This lovely boy needs a home with fit and active people who are prepared to continue his training.

He is still at the puppy mouthing stage, so will need help managing his puppy teeth.

No showboating Reggie for the first week. Allow him time to settle into his new home with his family. This is very important for both him and you.

Reggie can live with one other dog. He is not cat tested, but in the right home with supervised, gradual introductions, this would likely not be an issue.

He can live with children aged 10 and over.

Your garden must be completely secure, with fences at least five feet high and locks on all gates. If you have a pond, it must be covered, and any toxic plants must be removed from your garden.

Exercise

Reggie is walked on long lead, he has a ball session in the morning. 15 mins walk at lunch. In the evening, walk and long lead/ball or training session to follow.

He has not been off his lead so we suggest his new owners do NOT take him off his lead until you have worked together on his recall.

Reggie can walk to heel we are informed whilst on a short lead.

His interaction with other dogs is playful excitable if in close proximity. His owners have been working hard on his training to keep him distracted. But remember Reggie is still only a puppy and wants to explore the big wide world, it for his new owners to guide him.

Likes & Dislikes

Likes: A Kong filled with his dry dog food, he loves to play fetch and chase his ball and his rope toy

Reggie has a soft wavy coat with a loose curl. It’s hard to tell how much he will shed as still going through coat changes before he reaches adulthood. All dogs shed some amount, some more than others.

Reggie is home groomed, brushed weekly and bathed when required.

Not attended a professional groomers as yet. We would suggest finding a good groomer and introducing him slowly to the environment and his groomer. We are happy to help recommend if you need our assistance.

He sometimes needs reassurance with new things and being in new environments. He likes nothing better than to have evening snuggles.

He is still puppy mouthing, this is very natural behaviour and will pass once he has learned with his new owners help how to manage this short spell of teething.

Reggie is eager to learn and has already mastered a few tasks in the last month, such as sit, down, crate, heel, learning recall and can return a ball when requested.

His owners have been working on his socialisation skills by taking him to cafes, shops, pubs, park benches, meeting other dogs, and various other places to expose him to many things as possible.

He was a nervous puppy to start with but has made great progress.

Reggie is toilet trained but as we state on all adverts do allow for any accidents ,as any puppy or dog can mark in a new environment.

Reggie is crate trained, he sleeps downstairs in his crate at night.

We do not advise leaving any puppy alone and crate for any long periods of time. A crate needs to be a happy place for any dog. His present owners use the crate as his bed, where he settles, decompressed after a walk, also for us to practice separation and for sleeping at night.

Reggie is still working on being left alone for short periods of time. He will whin and become unsettled for a short time. This will need some addressing in his new home.

He is still learning and very young at present.

He has never been destructive in his owners home.

Car travel: Remains still whilst travelling, but can drool excessively if not settled, but if tired from a big walk sleeps in the car.A harnesses is recommended or a crate whilst travelling.

Unknown if he likes the water or swimming.

No known dislikes.

As stated his owners adore Reggie and they know he can bring so much joy, to the right family who have the time to devote to him as he is a clever boy and responds well to training.
