Requirements
Active home with persons who are fit and energetic. Can be wary around men, but will settle and gain confidence with time.
Dylan is an active young doodle who loves company. We need to place him in a home where humans are at home all day; this is very important for Dylan as he needs the comfort he deserves.
Can live with dog-savvy older children aged 10 plus who are respectful around dogs. Preferably no visiting babies or young children, and if you are young and planning a family, this is not the dog for you.
Can live with one other dog, not a multi-dog household. The other dog must have no behavioural issues, and you must be prepared to travel for as many meet-and-greets as required. Absolutely no cats.
Your garden must be secure; if you have gates, they must have a lock. If you have a deep pond, we request that it is covered. Check that you have no toxic plants or vegetables.
Exercise
During the week, Dylan has a brief morning walk at the local park (20 minutes), an off-lead walk (1 hour), plus lots of garden play. On weekends, he has 2-hour daily countryside or beach walks.
Dylan’s recall is good (recall to whistle, fingers or his name, Dylan). DoodleAid does not recommend any newly adopted dog to go off-lead unless in a secure, hired paddock, or when you have complete trust in each other, this is very important.
While on a lead, Dylan did pull when he was a puppy and would attempt to chase cars, which is why he is accustomed to off-lead countryside and beach walks. He can now be walked on the lead safely, but new owners should be aware that Dylan may be spooked by cars. New owners might like to explore this with a dog behaviourist if they feel they lack experience.
This lovely boy’s obedience is good, and he interacts well with other dogs while out and about.
Dylan would flourish in agility classes or competitions, totally wonderful for bonding between humans and dogs.
Likes & Dislikes
Likes: Dylan’s favourite games and toys include footballs, bubbles, and fetch.
Dislikes: Cats
Dylan has a soft silky wavy coat, only sheds minimal, all dogs shed some amount
Every few days a light brushing of knot prone areas (ears, beard and tail) with detangling brush.
He prefers to be brushed whilst having a cuddle in bed, shortly after waking. Dylan is calm enough to allow brushing at this time of the day, later in the day Dylan will be too excited to allow brushing.
Dylan is washed/trimmed by groomer at least once a month. Extra wash appointments during rainy/muddy seasons. Dylan doesn’t really enjoy being washed at home, he is nervous of the shower head. Full cut dependant on growth and time of year.
Dylan is hypoallergenic and professionally groomed/cut every 6wks. During muddy months, Dylan has additional wash only appointments to keep his fur clean and matt-free.
DoodleAid is always happy to recommend an qualified experienced groomer.
Dylan is affectionate, cuddly, excitable, intelligent, and can be protective over his family. He has a very expressive curly piglet tail, which curls when he is happy and excited and becomes floppy when he feels nervous or unwell. This unique feature makes it easy to judge Dylan’s mood.
Behavioural occurrences: In January 2025, a Ridgeback knocked over our toddler. Dylan rushed to protect him and was subsequently attacked by the Ridgeback. Fortunately, this resulted in superficial wounds only, and Dylan’s personality and behaviour have remained unchanged.
Dylan can be nervous around new people, particularly when someone knocks at the door or enters the home. He will bark until he feels settled and reassured.
Dylan responds to the following commands: sit, wait (show Dylan your palm), lie down (touch two fingers to the floor), on your bed, go on or come on (to release him from wait or to have him follow you).
Recall to whistle with fingers or by calling his name, Dylan
He has attended puppy training classes and has been taught additional behaviours at home. Dylan is very intelligent, highly food motivated, and capable of learning advanced tricks and skills.
Dylan is extremely affectionate and loving but suffers from separation anxiety. He cannot be left alone for significant periods of time, currently no more than two hours. Doggy company significantly improves his anxiety.
He owns several soft toys for suckling when stressed. Dylan is very energetic, intelligent, and motivated by food, with the capacity to learn tricks, commands, and even agility training.
Dylan’s favourite game is fetch. He has never resource guarded toys but sometimes forgets not to play indoors and has not yet outgrown play nipping.
He can be nervous or protective of his pack around new people, particularly when someone knocks at the door or enters the home. Dylan will bark and rush the door or person, but this is only a front, as he quickly befriends visitors when presented with treats. Currently, he is shut in a separate room before opening the front door to deliveries.
Dylan cannot be left unattended around human food. While he shows little or no interest in fox poo, he may treat human faeces and horse poo as tasty snacks.
Dylan is toilet trained, but accidents may occur when entering a new environment.
This darling boy loves to sleep with his humans and has been known to share the pillow. He has spent most of his life sleeping at the foot of the bed or on the floor next to it. For the past two months, Dylan has slept downstairs on the sofa but would prefer not to be separated from his loved ones.
He has never been destructive in his home. He owns several soft toys for comfort when his owners go out and is not crate trained, nor is there a reason for him to be crated.
In the car, Dylan is well behaved. He can free roam in the boot but prefers to sit in the front passenger seat with a restraint.
Dylan loves a sea swim but is not a huge fan of baths.
He is reported to be unfazed by fireworks.

Allergic reaction to Metacam and possibly any other anti inflammatories, this was discovered after Dylan was neutered. Meloxicam (brand names Metacam® Loxicom®, OroCAM®, Rheumocam) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain, inflammation, and fever in dogs and cats. It is indicated for the treatment of osteoarthritis in dogs and cats. Meloxicam is also used to treat pain associated with surgery.
Dylan has a healthy appetite, he doesn’t resource guard but does have food sensitivities i.e. will vomit bile if stomach is empty too long. Two meals daily and plenty of healthy treats will keep Dylan’s tummy happy. Dylan previously thrived on Butternut box but has transitioned to Naturo (Grain Free) as a more affordable option ahead of rehoming.
