Background
Skye’s owners dearly love her but unfortunately their child has developed allergies and struggling with personal commitments.
This has resulted in her owners wanting the best for Skye’s future, DoodleAid will do it’s upmost to find the perfect home for this little one.
Requirements
Active, fit person or persons, as Skye is an energetic little bundle of love.
Person or persons need to be at home (this means either homeworkers, fit and active retired persons, or home-based persons with older children). Happy to rehome Skye with children aged 10 and over.
Skye can live with one other dog; if male, we will need proof that your dog has been neutered. Skye can live with a dog-savvy cat as long as introductions are carried out responsibly and slowly.
Garden must be safe and secure; gates must have a lock. If you have a pond, it must be covered.
Absolutely no showboating Skye the first week.
Exercise
Skye has 3 short walks a day as her bones are still forming, first thing in morning, lunch time & evening. Morning & lunch is a 10-15 minute walk and the evening is 30 minutes.
Skye has not really been off her lead, her new owners will have to work on her recall in a safe and secure area. We always suggest a good place to start is in a pre-paid hired doggy paddock, these are around £6 per half an hour. Please do not allow her off lead until you have complete trust and control of her recall.
Skye sometimes pulls on her lead, we would suggest some loose lead training.
Interaction with other dogs whilst out, Skye shows interests will say hi and have a sniff.
General obedience good still learning, knows the word sit and generally good at listening. Skye’s owners attended training classes with Skye, Dog School with the Dog’s Trust.
Likes & Dislikes
Likes: Fetch with soft toys and tug of war
Dislikes: Some loud noises/bangs
Skye has a long & fluffy puppy coat. Adult fur starting to grow which looks more curly.
Skye only sheds minimally as all dogs shed some amount.
Brushed at home every few days, does not mind being brushed.
Attends a professional groomers every 6 weeks, bathed at home between grooms when required.
Never shown any aggressive behaviour to humans or other dogs (still puppy mouthing when over excited). Loves people, wants fuss off anyone and will jump up. Does puppy nip a little & get hyper when fuss stops.
Skye is fairly well socialised and we would like her new owners to continue with socialising and training Skye
Skye is toilet trained but we always state with any newly rescued dog be prepared for any accidents.
Skye sleeps in the kitchen or hallway at night. Her new owners we advise spending the first few nights with her to settle her into her new home.
She can be left whilst you go shopping or appointments, we do not want Skye left any longer than a few hours per day.
Skye has never been destructive in her home.
Crates :- She was crated when her owners first got her for overnight sleep & when they were out. She has been out of the crate for about a month but still has access to it but door is always left open.
Car travel :- Locally she has always been fine in the car. On a couple of occasions when gone further afield, she has been sick once on each occasion. Always been sick on the way out but never on the way home. DoodleAid would advise not feeding Skye before any car journeys and working on introducing car training going forward.
Water and Swimming:- Plays with water in her garden but never swam.
Skye is still a young puppy, dearly loved but sadly circumstances within the home have changed.
We will find this gorgeous girlie the best home we can where she will be loved and well looked after for the rest of her life.
