Learn about the foster dog, their likes and dislikes. This will provide us with an invaluable insight in to the dog.
Travel to meet, greet and transport the dog to their foster home.
Ensure the dog has the required visit to the vets, groomers and to work with trainers or behaviourists should these be required.
Only train the dog in a positive manner, with love.
Not use averse or punitive training of any kind, including, but not limited to : Shock, prong or spray collars - anti bark devices - slip leads/choke chains - hitting or shouting at the dog - using bottles with stones in. If you are in any doubt, always contact us before using any training method that is not sanctioned by DoodleAid or one of our approved training providers.
Give the dog love, attention, stimulation, food, exercise and a warm indoor space to sleep, every day.
Ensure the dog has any prescribed medication in the correct dose at the correct time and seek veterinary advice if the dog becomes unwell.
Take photos of the dog and provide to us at contact@doodleaid.com, this will help us find the dog a permanent home.
Carefully supervise and guide this dog in any new situation that may be stressful for them.
Advise DoodleAid if you are unable to continue fostering and allow us sufficient to make alternative arrangements, taking in to account we do not use kennels.
Please allow the foster dog time to settle in their new environment. Ensure that the foot traffic in your home is kept to a minimum and the foster dog is allowed time to settle and get used to those in your home. Guests should be avoided where possible for at least the first week. Do not introduce the dog to additional environments (avoid taking them to social occasions, the shops, events etc) for the first week.
