Our Promise

We ensure that all dogs which are referred to us for rehoming should be found loving new homes, where a lifestyle, appropriate to their temperament & needs can be reasonably assured. DoodleAid will handle the rehoming of any poodle crossbreed for any owner that finds themselves in a position where their pet needs to be rehomed for whatever reason, without judgement. Our priority is the welfare of the dog and DoodleAid will endeavour to find the best possible new home for that dog.

DoodleAid does not buy and/or sell dogs. We are more than happy to rehome a poodle crossbreed because circumstances mean the family needs to part with their pet, but DoodleAid cannot and will not do so if the donor family expects any payment for their dog. We will always endeavour to match the dog with the new owner’s lifestyle and needs and if this is not possible, then the dog can be fostered until a suitable home becomes available.

Urgent Help

Sometimes, these things can move quickly; sometimes the right home can take longer. If the dog or dogs need to be removed from it’s current owner urgently, DoodleAid will make arrangements to have the dog fostered by one of our registered foster homes.

DoodleAid will make all arrangements for the dog to be released from the ownership of the donor family and placed with the new owners. All new owners will have been home checked by a DoodleAid rehoming team member and will be required to sign an Adoption Contract agreeing to provide a loving and safe new home for the dog up for adoption.

DoodleAid rehoming process - Rough Guide

  1. You decide to re-home your dog, you need to complete our re-home a dog form - Rehome a Dog Form.
  2. We then review the form and will contact you by telephone to go through it in more details. We agree if the dog can go with another dog, cat and children and if so what age.
  3. We then ask that you send photos of your dog through to us and ask your vet to send the vet records as we must review the same.
  4. We review the vet records in detail to ensure that when we place the advert we are as transparent as we can be with any potential new owner.
  5. We check the dogs microchip and transfer into DoodleAid's name. This is standard process as you can only re-home with one rehoming centre. The dog will remain at your home until the adoption has taken place.
  6. We create an advert based on all the information we have gathered. We then place on our website www.doodleaid.com, facebook, instagram and twitter.
  7. People will apply for the dog by completion of an application form that is on our website. Once we close the advert, the Trustees will review the applications that are received, vet each one and reduce down to normally 2 or 3.
  8. We then do a home-check on the proposed adoptees via telephone followed by a visual home-check by WhatsApp.
  9. If we feel that the person applying is suitable we will then call you to discuss in more detail and make sure you are comfortable. If you are we then arrange to give the potential new owner your contact number so that they can call you to discuss as this allows both parties to ask questions. If you are happy you arrange a convenient meet and greet, either at your home or theirs. Some have two visits with the second visit to adopt the dog whereas others may do three visits and on occasions the dog will do a sleepover. The number of visits really depend as to whether your dog is being re-homed with another dog or not.
  10. If all parties are happy you then agree the adoption date, we complete the adoption papers for the adopter to sign and return to us and pay us the adoption fee. You then hand over the dog and if you and the person(s) adopting the dog want to keep in touch you can.
  11. We then transfer the microchip to the new owner, arrange insurance for five weeks and sent the vet records off to the new owners vet.

We can discuss the whole process over the phone so please try not to feel overwhelmed as we will do everything we can. We will listen to any concerns as we do appreciate it is a difficult time for you and we’re always here to offer support.

We ask that you never act in haste - you may regret it. Together, we’ll talk through everything about your dog - the good, the bad, and the funny - openly and honestly.

Rehoming through DoodleAid

It’s never easy considering giving up your Doodle, they’re part of your family.

DoodleAid is here to support you with this very hard decision and we’re here to help and reassure. If we feel you need support with a trainer or behaviourist we can recommend this first, before you make the decision to re-home.

All we ask is never do anything in haste, you may regret your decision and we would not like this to happen to anyone.

We go through every aspect with you, the good, bad and funny about your dog. In return we simply ask you to be honest with us and we’ll do the same.

If you have a contract in place with your breeder you are advised to contact them first; if you got your Doodle from another rescue they should be contacted prior to rehoming.

We ask for a contract to be agreed and signed by you and by DoodleAid. This will include all the information about your dog; we’re focussed on protecting your data and abide by the eight principles of the Data Protection Act.

Your dog’s vets records should be emailed to us directly. These stay in our hands until we find a new home for your dog when they’ll be passed to the vet.

We ask for a number of photos for the advert and a small administration fee will be required. An advert will be placed on our website and social media pages. We do not use your names or the dogs names; only a county location.

All potential homes will be fully vetted and a full homecheck, references may be required and ID is required by DoodleAid.

Any dog will not be rehomed unless all parties are happy with the arrangement. We believe we need everyone to be happy as we need the dog rehomed as smoothly and as sympathetically as if it was our own dog.

DoodleAid is not only here for the dogs we are here for everyone.

Happy dogs and happy owners!
