Cassie & Teddy : Now Adopted

THIS IS AN URGENT APPEAL FOR A SPECIAL HOME WITH SPECIAL PEOPLE

Please read very very carefully ,all the information we provide is detailed in this advert.

We are looking for a home a very special home for two young Australian Labradoodles.

Cassie and Teddy are litter siblings they are two years old.

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

Cassie was diagnosed with Addisons Disease in January 2023 which can be managed and controlled with the correct medication. Other charities have spoken about euthanasia which should never happen to a young dog, with a condition that can be easily managed and therefore we are looking to help rehome these two together. Where there’s a will there’s always a way.

Teddy is fully fit, a happy healthy boy. In February 2023 he managed to obtain Parvovirus,he was a sick boy,but because his immune system was strong he managed to fight it off with the support of the vet and was very lucky indeed to pull through.

WE WILL ONLY REHOME TOGETHER ,WE WILL NOT SEPARATE THEM

You will need to be fully committed in giving them both the best life they so deserve, and continue Cassie’s medical treatment for her lifespan.

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

Cassie was diagnosed with Addisons Disease January 2023, she receives monthly injection of Zycortal, along side 2.5mg of prednisone steroid in tablet form daily. Because this is a pre existing condition her new owners will NOT be able to insure for this condition. As a responsible charity we will discuss a few options going forward with her new owners.

The costing for the injections is around £100 per month, maybe cheaper if you obtain a prescription via the vet and purchase online.

The Pred (steroids) are much cheaper pennies compared to the injection.

Cassie will also need her bloods checking to make sure she is balanced.

This could be anything from 3 months, 6 monthly or as and when required if you notice any changes. Cassie blood balance was last check in November 2023 and is stable and doing great. As with all vets in the UK treatment prices and drug prices can vary,it’s always best to shop around, even when purchasing drugs online.

Please please do not let any of the above conditions put you off rehoming these two wonderful, sweet natured dogs. We cannot turn our back on them both,we need your help folks.

ONLY WILL REHOME THEM TOGETHER NOT WITH OTHER DOGS IN THE HOME

WILL CONSIDER REHOMING WITH CHILDREN OVER 7 YEARS OLD THAT ARE DOG SAVVY

NO CATS NEVER LIVED CATS

WE REQUEST A SAFE AND SECURE GARDEN

IF YOU HAVE A HOLIDAY PLANNED PLEASE STATE ON YOUR APPLICATION FORM

Grooming Requirements

Cassie has a curly coat, she only sheds minimally, all dogs shed some amounts.

Attends a professional groomers every 8 weeks for a full groom. Always good to inform the groomer that Cassie is an Addison’s dog.

Exercise

Cassie enjoys her walks, she has three good walks per day.

She does go off her lead, but only in a very secure area. Doodle Aid does not advise allowing any rescue dog off lead ,until you have complete trust in one another.

Cassie’s recall is good unless distracted by other dogs, squirrels or wildlife around.

Whilst on her lead she may pull if she gets excited.

Cassie is very friendly around other dogs whilst out on her exercise, likes to go and meet and greet.

Her general obedience is good and she is well socialised

General Information

Cassie is very loving , cuddly, enjoys playing fetch and tugging games. Loves water and will jump in ponds. A real sweetheart,a gentle natured soul.

Cassie has no behavioural issues and has never shown any form of aggression.

She is toilet trained, but do allow for any accidents when any dog is settling into a new environment.

Cassie sleeps in her own bed in the hallway

Not crate trained

She has never been destructive in her home

Can be left for short periods of time maximum per day a few hours.

( whilst any rescue dogs settle in a home we would like the new owners to be at home) not passing the dogs around to friends and family, they need to get to know you firstly.

Travels well in the car ,in the boot with her Brother Teddy

Cassie likes the water and will explore, lakes, ponds and rivers.

Loves playing fetch with a ball, tugging games, chase, has a soft toy duck that she sleeps with & peekaboo

Her owners have said they have not experienced anything Cassie dislikes.

She is a very easy happy go lucky girl, who loves life and enjoys human company, loves her Brother Teddy.

there is no reason Cassie would not make a perfect companion, all we ask is to keep her medication in control and blood tests in check when required.

Repeat Addisons is not a death sentence, an Addison dog is a special dog.
